Baiana de Feira de Santana, residente em Salvador, Nila Carneiro é artista visual, graduada em Design Gráfico pela Escola de Belas Artes da Universidade Federal da Bahia e também atua como designer e ilustradora. Aborda, em suas criações, aspectos subjetivos de sua realidade, traduzindo-a em uma arte livre e carregada de significados. Sua percepção mantém, ao longo dos anos, uma forte e impositiva representação do feminino em seus variados aspectos.
Um aspecto fundamental na poética de suas produções é o reforço da necessidade de ocupar e reconhecer os espaços públicos com arte feita por mulheres. Sua assinatura figura em variados suportes, publicações, catálogos de arte, exposições coletivas e ações artísticas, e vem ganhando maior reconhecimento público, em especial nas obras em grandes dimensões. Na Bahia, Nila Carneiro se destaca como uma mulher da arte urbana contemporânea brasileira.
Entre as suas produções mais recentes, que tomam paredes soteropolitanas, estão os murais “São Jorge” da Rede São Jorge/Ipiranga na Avenida Ogunjá com 1.800m², sendo considerado o maior mural da cidade de Salvador; “Mulher Selvagem e Resiliente” da Secretaria Municipal de Sustentabilidade, Inovação e Resiliência (Comércio); “Mãe Baía” do Restaurante Baêa Sauípe Resorts (Costa do Sauípe); “Grande Mãe” da Creche Mãe Nildete (Alto de Coutos) para a campanha “O bem inspira” da Rede Bahia; “Mãe Stella de Oxossi – o nosso tempo é agora” do Conselho Regional de Enfermagem da Bahia (Barris); “Mulher – natureza selvagem” no Hospital da Mulher (Largo de Roma); “Águas fluviais” da Nova Concha Acústica do Teatro Castro Alves (Campo Grande); “Oxum e a cidade das mulheres”, do Projeto Mural no prédio da Receita Federal (Comércio). Este último, o primeiro edifício da Receita Federal no país com intervenção artística realizada por uma mulher. Nila também já expôs para o projeto Eyes of The Street | Londres, em 2015.
Em 2019 foi convidada pela marca Ipanema para compor uma das coleções da marca intitulada como Ipanema Graffiti. Em 2013, teve um de seus trabalhos publicados no Calendar of Tales, uma parceria entre Neil Gaiman e a Blackberry, na Revista Latidos Visuales – Las Mejores Ilustraciones Latinoamericanas 2013, sendo finalista no Prêmio da Ilustração Latinoamericana 2013 em Palermo. Participou das edições dos Circuito das Artes 2013|2014|2015|2016 em Salvador.
Concilia sua carreira artística com a profissão de designer no Teatro Castro Alves (FUNCEB) de 2019 até o momento. Foi de 2010 a 2019 Designer e Coordenadora de Design na Sede da Fundação Cultural do Estado da Bahia (FUNCEB), entidade vinculada à Secretaria de Cultura do Estado da Bahia (SecultBA), onde já produziu inúmeros produtos, peças gráficas, publicações, catálogos e ilustrações, marcando também em outra esfera sua presença no campo das artes da Bahia. Foi responsável, de 2013 a 2015, pela identidade visual e direção de arte do LáLá Multiespaço, espaço cultural multilinguagem localizado no Rio Vermelho, em Salvador.

Born in Feira de Santana and resident in Salvador, Nila Carneiro is a visual artist, graduated in Graphic Design at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Bahia, and also works as a designer and illustrator. In her creations, she approaches subjective aspects of her reality, translating it into a free art and full of meanings. Her perception maintains, over the years, a strong and imposing representation of the feminine in its varied aspects.
A fundamental aspect in the poetics of her productions is the reinforcement of the need to occupy and recognize public spaces with art made by women. Nila’s signature appears in various media, publications, art catalogs, collective exhibitions and artistic actions, and has been gaining greater public recognition, especially in large works. In Bahia, Nila Carneiro stands out as a woman of contemporary brazilian urban art.
Among her most recent productions on soteropolitan walls are the murals “Mother Stella of Oxossi – our time is now”, at the Regional Nursing Council of Bahia (Barris); “Woman – wild nature”, at the Women’s Hospital (Largo de Roma); “River waters”,at the Castro Alves Theater Arena (Campo Grande); “Oxum and the city of women”, at the Mural Project at the IRS building (Low City). The latter, the first IRS building in the country with artistic intervention performed by a woman. Nila also exhibited for the project Eyes of The Street | London in 2015.
In 2013, she had one of her works published in the Calendar of Tales, a partnership between Neil Gaiman and the Blackberry, in the magazine Latidos Visuales – Las Mejores Ilustraciones Latinoamericanas 2013, being finalist at the Latin American Illustration Award 2013, in Palermo. Nila also participated in the editions of the Art Circuit 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016, in Salvador.
Since 2010, she reconciles her artistic career with the Design Coordination at the Bahia State Cultural Foundation, an entity linked to the Bahia State Department of Culture, where Nila has produced numerous products, graphic pieces, publications, catalogs and illustrations, also marking in another sphere her presence in the field of the arts in Bahia. She was responsible, from 2013 to 2015, for the visual identity and art direction of LáLá Multiespaço, a multilingual cultural space located in Rio Vermelho – Salvador.
